Falling is one of the most dangerous things a senior citizen can endure, leading to broken bones, extensive bruising, internal bleeding, and death. Almost 1 of 6 seniors that enter nursing homes do so because of falling. Governor Kasich is now working with AARP and other senior citizen organizations to stem the tide of these fatal falls and inform the public of how how to remain safe in your homes.
Along with educating elderly people how to use walkers and to navigate their homes while keeping their balance, the commission is also working to educate younger adults about staying healthy as you age. If you can stay active and fit growing older, the chance of falling and being seriously injured dramatically decreases.
